Who is the "Middle-of-the-road mama"?
I have over thirteen years of parenting experience, raising my four, rambunctious boys. (Or as I like to say: "I've been clipping little boy toenails since 1998!) I have delivered two children in a hospital with as many narcotic pain relievers as they'd give me and the help of a very effective epidural. I have also delivered two other children in my bedroom, with the assistance of a midwife. I have formula fed two children and breastfed two children into their preschool years. I have sleep trained at times and have practiced extended co-sleeping. I have been a vegetarian and a dedicated carnivore. I have used disposable diapers and cloth diapers, for equal amounts of time. I have spanked, and I have practiced gentle discipline. Three of my boys are circumcised, and one is not. Two of my boys are fully vaccinated, and the other two are barely vaccinated. I have taken my children to church and I have been a militant atheist. I have been a teenage mom, a single mom, a homeschooling mom, a working mom, and a stay-at-home mom. I have discovered that good parenting does not have to exist in black and white. There are many shades of gray, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a mix and match mentality!
